This Federal Election our industry asks that parties and independents recognise Australia's progress on national water reform that established water as a property right, is driving industry efficiency and sustainability and means, that in the Murray Darling Basin nearly 1 in 3 litres of irrigation water is now returned to the environment.
This journey has ensured Australian water sharing foundations are world leading - they adapt to our variable climate, ensure water sharing is within global standards and have increased water use efficiency. There has been a step change in water management and our existing programs will continue this path but we should not seek more change, if the benefits do not out way the costs.
