NATIONAL IRRIGATORS’ COUNCIL
Advocating for the Australian irrigated agriculture industry
We have Members based throughout Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria, South Australia and the Northern Territory and includes key commodity groups like cotton, rice and almonds. Members are not individual irrigators or farmers, but members of their respective representative organisations or national or Basin-wide businesses, who operate across a number of areas.
Members are key financial contributors to the organisation, they set our policy and governance arrangements through Director nominations. Members have varying rights depending on one of three categories (see below).
Members meet face to face three times per year to discuss and determine key policies and advocacy strategies, and network with each other. One meeting also includes a tour of an irrigation region of Australia. It's acknowledged that to be effective national voice, we need to grow and expand our footprint but also work more collaboratively with other bodies to drive added value for our Members.
We are committed to representing all irrigators
regardless of their location or the food and fibre they produce, and we welcome discussions new members from anywhere around Australia.
